Founded in 2013, Path to Admissions has the mission of helping families navigate the college planning process. We want to provide expert opinion, alleviate anxiety and stress, and see your student move confidently into young adulthood.
Senior year should be an exciting time for students – and if careful thought goes into the selections of schools based on student interests and where they can be successful – it will be. I am also a living example of finding your path even if it is years in the making. Although my undergraduate degree is in journalism and public relations I can't remember a time I have not been involved with K-12 education. I grew up in a home where my mother taught middle school for more than 40 years. I attended Okla State Univ and then went to work in hospital administration until my young family moved to Texas. At that point my life pivoted and I became a substitute teacher, a volunteer at their elementary school and eventually became the School Board president. I volunteered and worked part time in the International Baccalaurate office at Anderson High SchooI. My two girls graduated and went on to college....and so did I! I went back to school and received my college counseling certificate through Univ of California San Diego. More training came through both IECA and HECA, the two professional associations for people in my field. I was named a professional member to IECA in 2019, a process that involved visiting more than 50 universities, doing ongoing professional education at national conferences and attending numerous local counselor updates. In 2020 I was proud to announce that I became a Certified Educational Consultant through AICEP. I will be adding to my continuous education credits and when travel can resume I look forward to visiting more schools.
I am privileged to work in an industry where I can have an impact on future generations. I will work one on one with your family and student to find the connections between their interests and majors available to them. It is so exciting to watch students go through the process of planning their future.
I earned my degree in English from Texas A&M and completed my college counseling certificate from UC San Diego. I've been a member of TACAC since 2016 and an educational consultant with Path to Admissions. Touring schools, attending workshops and keeping up with higher education news is just part of what I do in my down time. I work with Kendall's students on their essays and application work. It is exciting to help them find their voice and see what story they want to share with schools.
I also offer independent essay review and editing for students who only need this service. As an English major and as an IEC, I have excellent insight as to what colleges are wanting to see in essays and will work with your student to edit drafts until they are ready to submit. If interested in this service, contact me. Fees are based on number of schools (essays) needed.
Chris earned her degree from Penn State Univ. and is currently working towards her certification in College Counseling. Her son attends Leander High School and Chris is an active volunteer there. She will work closely with our families in the essay development process during the 2022 cycle, working with our students from initial ideas to fine tuning edits. Chris is fluent in "teen" having raised 2 successful young women and currently still has her son at home, soon to enter high school himself. She understands parents and teens have different views and thoughts on future plans and wants to help both sides come to consensus and be excited for the future.
Path to Admissions expects Chris to complete her certification and start seeing high school students who will graduate in 2023. We are so excited for Chris to be a part of PTA!
